Robust Power Allocation in Covert Communication: Imperfect CDI

چکیده

The study of the fundamental limits covert communications, where a transmitter Alice wants to send information desired recipient Bob without detection that transmission by an attentive and capable warden Willie, has emerged recently as topic great research interest. Previous work assumed distribution multipath fading on channel, which we term channel (CDI), is known Alice, hence facilitating her characterization Willie's capabilities detect signal. However, in practice, Willie tends be passive environment heterogeneous, implying lack signaling interchange between makes it difficult if not impossible for estimate CDI exactly provide covertness guarantees. In this paper, address issue developing communication schemes various assumptions Alice's imperfect CDI: 1) when knows within some distance nominal distribution; 2) only mean variance are available; 3) complex Gaussian but unknown. each case, formulate new optimization problems find power allocations maximize rate subject requirement under uncertain CDI. Moreover, may able or faced with error estimation, investigate two these issues. Numerical results presented compare proposed from aspects, attaining desirable system performance.

Robust beamforming and power allocation in cognitive radio relay networks with imperfect channel state information

The authors study robust beamforming and power allocation in cognitive relay networks using several relays in the secondary link. The channel state information is imperfect modelled by Gaussian random variables. First, minimisation of the total transmit power of relays and the secondary transmitter is considered with a constraint on the interference in the primary receiver. Also, a constraint i...

Power Allocation for Relay-Assisted Indoor Power Line Communication Systems

Using the worldwide already existing power lines as a communication medium for local area networking (LAN) has received much interest for many indoor information sharing applications. However, the indoor power line communication (PLC) channels demonstrate hostile characteristics for broadband signal transmission. A lot of efforts have been made in order to apply some advanced technologies, whic...

Covert Communication in Mobile Applications

This paper studies communication patterns in mobile applications. Our analysis shows that 63% of the external communication made by top-popular free Android applications from Google Play has no effect on the user-observable application functionality. To detect such covert communication in an efficient manner, we propose a highly precise and scalable static analysis technique: it achieves 93% pr...

Covert Communication through Executables

This paper explores the potential of executables for covert communication. Three techniques for the embedding of secret information are presented. Possible attacks on the stealthiness of these techniques are identified and countered. The presented concepts are implemented and evaluated for the IA32 architecture, for which we obtain an encoding rate of 1/27 before countermeasures and 1/89 after ...
